Drivers in New Zealand can dramatically improve their safety behind the wheel at night......................by simply swapping the bulbs in their headlights.

Leading Australasian lighting company NARVA has developed a unique blue bulb, or globe as they are commonly called, that doubles night-time vision, to make driving after dark that much safer. And it only takes a couple of minutes to swap for the standard bulbs.

The new globe is called Blue Power because it provides a brilliant blue-white light that increases the amount of light shining on the road ahead, providing the driver with a superior and safer view.

NARVA says Blue Power delivers 80% more light than a standard car headlight bulb and the beam is 20% whiter – which adds up to 100% more night-time vision.

“The light from standard headlights appears quite dull and ordinary by comparison to Blue Power,” says Peter Griffiths of NARVA New Zealand, the local distributor of NARVA lighting products.

“Not only do you see further ahead, you get much better clarity of vision and the light also clearly picks out objects on the side of the road, so the driver is more aware of what is around him or her. You really do feel much safer driving at night with these new globes.”

The enhanced halogen technology used in Blue Power was developed in Germany, where the new lights are also manufactured, combining the performance of two other NARVA globes, the Plus and Arctic Blue ranges, effectively providing two lights in one.

Blue Power delivers the increased light volume of a Plus globe, such as the popular Plus-50 model, with the white light of NARVAS’s Artic Blue globes – it may seem strange, but blue headlights deliver a whiter beam.

“With the current globe range, consumers are often unsure whether to choose the increased light volume of Plus or the whiter, higher quality light of Blue, but now with Blue Power, they can have both within the one globe,” Mr Griffiths adds.

The brilliance of the light is measured in Kelvins and Blue Power is rated at 3750 Kelvin, which almost doubles the measured luminance of standard car headlight bulbs, resulting in considerably more light on the road.

Yet they don’t give out any more heat or draw more power from the battery than a standard bulb, meaning they are suitable for use with polycarbonate lenses.

NARVA is supplying Blue Power globes in H1, H3, H4 and H7 specifications, with full ECE and ADR approvals.
