Projecta Launches The Ultimate Battery Chargers
If you want a competitively priced battery charger that works with every type of 12-volt battery on the market, Projecta has the answer.
Two new high performance battery chargers have been developed by Projecta that not only charge ordinary lead-acid 12-volt automotive starting batteries, but will also handle wet and gel-type batteries, deep cycle batteries, AGM, marine and new technology calcium batteries as well.
“These are described as the ultimate DIY battery chargers that are also good enough for professionals in the workshop,” says Don Tennet, of NARVA New Zealand, which distributes Projecta battery chargers in this market.
The two new Projecta chargers provide the latest automatic 7-stage intelligent charging technology that helps owners to get more from their batteries. The chargers take a battery through the following seven stages: Desulphation; Soft Start; Bulk; Absorption; Battery Test; Recondition; and Float. The charger’s output can be adjusted to suit the size of the battery, for optimum charging.
The 7-stage technology is a very comprehensive and charging process that gives a battery longer life and better performance compared to traditional chargers. It also restores performance on drained and sulphated batteries.
Once they have brought the battery up to a fully charged state, the new chargers will then continue to maintain the battery at that level without causing any damage.
The most noticeable features of these new chargers are their light weight and compact size, which is a result of switch-mode technology that converts 240V AC power to 12V DC power using electronic components without compromising performance, unlike traditional battery chargers that rely on heavy transformers.
There are two models available, depending on the performance required. For most people the 8000mA model will be sufficient, but if top charging performance is required, the 16,000mA model is the choice.
A feature of the new Projecta models is their advanced design and styling, which incorporates a carry handle and storage compartments for the cable and power lead. The main panel contains a digital read-out to indicate the residual power in the battery and charging progress. The chargers automatically shut down and illuminate the Check Battery LED panel if there is a fault or the battery is damaged – there are five fault modes that tell the owner what is wrong.
The new Projecta 7-stage automatic chargers are available a leading automotive accessory retailers throughout New Zealand, with the 8000mA listed at a recommended $216 and the 16,000mA model recommended at $332. |
