A new high performance driving light that is “light years” ahead of most others on the market has just launched in New Zealand.

The top HID version of NARVA’s new Ultima 225 is so powerful it can light up the road for more than a kilometre – almost three times the distance of an average driving light – and turn night driving almost into daytime.

It packs such a punch it is sure to become the most sought-after driving light on the New Zealand market, aimed at motoring enthusiasts, off-road drivers and the transport industry.

“We’re very excited about this light,” says Russell Miller, of NARVA New Zealand. “We think the Ultima 225 is going to do big things for us with its huge performance.”

The name provides a clue to the performance potential of the Ultima 225. It is 225mm in diameter, which makes it one of the biggest on the market, and well ahead of the next size down, the Ultima 175.

But size does not always equal performance and it took three years of research and development by NARVA and a team of Swedish automotive design and lighting experts to turn the Ultima 225 into a world-beater. Among its features is a computer-generated Free Form reflector design that helps to punch light far out into the distance, improving on the performance of the bulb.

The new NARVA Ultima 225 comes with three bulb options, the standard Halogen, the Halogen Blue and the range-topping Xenon High Intensity Discharge (H.I.D) lighting in both 12 and 24 Volt, featuring the latest D1 globes and Generation 5 ballasts. Even in standard format, the Ultima 225 delivers light up to 900 metres in pencil beam and around 800 metres as a wide beam. The Ultima 225 Blue is not just about delivering a crisp blue light, it also has a slightly higher performance over short to medium distances.

At the top of the range, the Ultima 225 HID is yet another step up, delivering a pencil beam of light to more than 1100 metres – the wide beam version will illuminate up to 900 metres. The use of German made D1 globes and Gen 5 Ballasts in the H.I.D lamps delivers instant ignition and eliminates the slow start common with current H.I.D lighting.

In addition to the Free Form reflector technology, the lamps also come with glare shields to screen stray light, virtually unbreakable polycarbonate lenses plus polycarbonate lens covers to provide additional protection.

Of critical importance to off-road and heavy transport users is the robust construction of the proven Ultima rotary cup mounting system in overcoming vibration and frequency problems. The unique rotary cup also enables quick adjustment and lock down.

Each lamp comes pre-wired with waterproof connectors and all kits feature a convenient user-friendly plug-and-play wiring loom making installation a breeze for the DIY handyman.
